Insure My Equipment
InsureMyEquipment.com is your quick and easy portal to get coverage for production equipment.
Choosing the Right Policy
I should purchase a ‘Rented Equipment’ policy if:
- I am being asked to list a rental house, company or vendor as ‘Loss Payee’
- I need coverage for equipment I will be renting or borrowing from a third party (rental house, individual, location, etc).
- I do not need coverage for gear I personally own
- The gear I am renting is production equipment (not construction equipment, farm equipment or other types of equipment)
- I live in the United States for the majority of the calendar year, have a permanent mailing address within the United States, and a major US Credit Card
- I am not renting drones. If I am renting drones, I am aware that this policy does not cover drones while they are in operation
- I do not already have a rented equipment policy elsewhere
- I am not bringing rented equipment with me to a country that is current being sanctioned by the US State Department.
I should purchase an ‘Owned Equipment’ policy if:
- I need coverage for equipment I personally own, and can also add coverage for equipment I plan to rent from others
- I am the primary owner/operator of my equipment and do not make more than 25% of my gross annual income from rental operations
- The equipment being insured is production equipment (not construction equipment, farm equipment, etc.)
- I live in the United States for the majority of the calendar year, have a permanent mailing address within the United States, and a major US Credit Card
- I am not purchasing coverage to insure drones while they are in operation.
- I do not already have an Owned Equipment policy from another company
- I am not planning to bring my equipment to a country currently being sanctioned by the US State Department. If I am, I am aware that no coverage will apply.
I should purchase a ‘Musical Equipment’ policy if:
- I need coverage for my personally owned musical instruments and sound design equipment.
- I am the primary owner/operator of my equipment and do not make more than 25% of my gross annual income from rental operations.
- The equipment being insured is musical instruments, sound design and editing equipment.
- I live in the United States for the majority of the calendar year, have a permanent mailing address and a major US Credit Card.
I should purchase a ‘General Liability’ policy if:
- I am being asked to list a rental house, studio, location or individual as ‘Additional Insured’ or ‘Additionally Insured’
- I need general liability coverage with limits of one million per occurrence and 2 million general aggregate
- I need a waiver of subrogation
- I need no more than $100,000 in damage to rented premises or third parties
