Renting from Multiple Vendors

It is common to use several rental houses to supply the gear needed for a shoot. Rest assured that your single rented equipment policy will cover all rentals. There is no need to purchase multiple policies for different rentals.

Ensuring Coverage for Multiple Rentals

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Calculate Total Replacement Cost:
    • Determine the total replacement cost value of all rentals combined. For example:
      • Renting $10,000 in lighting equipment from Rental House 1
      • Renting $25,000 in camera equipment from Rental House 2
      • Renting $5,000 in sound equipment from Rental House 3
    • The total replacement cost for all rentals is $40,000.
  2. Apply for a Sufficient Policy:
    • Apply for a rented equipment policy with a limit that covers the total replacement cost value (in this example, $40,000). This ensures that if a total loss event occurs, your coverage will be sufficient to cover losses from all rental houses.
  3. Generate Multiple COIs:
    • You can generate multiple Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for each rental vendor under a single policy. There are no additional charges for generating multiple COIs.

Key Points to Remember

  • One Single Policy: A single rented equipment policy will cover all your rentals.
  • Multiple COIs: Generate as many COIs as needed for different vendors.
  • No Additional Charges: There are no extra costs for adding multiple rental vendors.

This approach also applies if you are renting from multiple individuals on a peer-to-peer platform or in general.
