Correct a Certificate of Insurance

From time to time, a Certificate of Insurance (COI) may be generated with incorrect information. Whether the company prefers their headquarters’ address to be listed, their official DBA as the certificate holder, or other specific details, the solution is simple: generate a new COI.

Since we cannot amend or edit COIs that have already been issued, here is the best way to proceed when a rental house requests a correction for a COI you have generated:

Steps to Correct a COI

  1. Navigate to Your Dashboard:
    • Log in to your InsureMyEquipment.com account and go to your dashboard.
  2. Issue a New Certificate:
    • Click ‘Issue a Certificate’.
    • Select ‘New Certificate Holder’.
    • Add the rental house details exactly as they have requested.

Caveats and Special Cases

  1. Incorrect Policyholder Information:
    • If you have mistakenly listed the rental house as the policyholder instead of yourself, follow these steps:
      • Click ‘Update Profile’ from your dashboard.
      • Request to change your insured name.
      • Once your request is approved, generate a new Certificate of Insurance which will list you or your company as the insured instead of the rental house.
  2. Custom Wording Requests:
    • If the rental house is asking for custom wording, click here to learn more about how to request a custom COI.
  3. Additional Insured Requests:
    • If the rental house is requesting to be listed as Additional Insured as well, click here to learn more about obtaining General Liability Coverage.

By following these steps, you can quickly and easily correct any information on your Certificate of Insurance to meet the requirements of the rental house.
